FAQ

General

Pocket MBS, Pocket RVG and Vaper are all available via Apple’s AppStore.  Pocket MBS/RVG are only available on the Australian AppStore (as the information they provide only applies to Australia) whereas Vaper is available worldwide.

Yes.  All the apps will work on an iPad.  iPad-native versions are under development to bring greater features to the apps.

Vaper

The ‘radiobuttons’ on the data entry screens are not customisable (eg ASA scores, sex etc).  However, most of the other stuff is – and can be edited, removed or added to (eg technique, maintenance, procedures, complications, operations etc)

This allows you to easily copy the details of the selected case EITHER for a different case on the same list OR for the same type of case (eg catarracts, knee ‘scopes etc) on the same list.

If the case you chose to copy the details from was on an earlier day, you also have an option of EITHER setting the date of the new case to the same day as the original case OR the current date.

1  Go to Statistics (on the TabBar at the bottom of the screen)

2.  select the cases you want to printout by module/date etc

3.  touch the button at top-right

4.  select ‘create and send’

This will create a report and send it via email to any email address you chose.  Send it to your own email address, open it with a spreadsheet programme and printout from your PC.

Alternatively, email it to your supervisor ;)

Provided you have backed up your data (by ‘sync’ing) via iTunes, you will be able to restore your data to a new iPhone, using the ‘restore from backup‘ option in iTunes.

Definitely.

Make sure you backup your old iPhone first.

Then follow the setup instructions for your new iPhone and choose to restore from a backup.  Choose the backup you created for your old iPhone.  All your logbook data will be transferred to your brand-new iPhone.  Full instructions from Apple are available here.

Definitely.  See this post

All the reports available in previous versions of Vaper are still available under the Reports tab (see ‘Statistics’) but are now produced in HTML format.  This format allows the report to be easily read by a greater variety of programmes with most browsers, spreadsheets programmes, text-editors and html-editors being able to open the report.

To the previously available report has been added an ‘Automated Report’ that allows a quick overview of your cases, again in HTML format.

If you are a Mac user, ‘Safari’, ‘TextEdit’ and the Microsoft Office Suite are able to open HTML documents.  Unfortunately ‘Numbers’ is currently unable to read HTML-formatted documents.    To get HTML reports into ‘Numbers’, do the following:

  1. open the report with TextEdit
  2. under the ‘Edit’ menu, ‘Select All’
  3. under the ‘Edit’ menu, ‘Copy’
  4. open ‘Numbers’ and create a new blank spreadsheet document
  5. under the ‘Edit’ menu in ‘Numbers, ‘Paste and Match Style’

If this is a major inconvenience and you would like the old-style reports to be brought back, please let us know…

All your data is stored only on your device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch).  When you sync your device with a PC, the data (and apps) are automatically backed up onto the PC but not in a way that can be read by anyone using your PC.  The data is stored in such a way that it is available for backup/restore to a device – should you lose/upgrade your device.

When exporting data via email in Vaper, currently only the main fields are exported.  There will be an upgrade made to Vaper soon that will allow all your data to be exported.

Unfortunately, there is no trial version of Vaper currently.  However, extensive screenshots are available here and we are always happy to answer any questions you may have.
